I have taken the office as the Honorary Consul Of Portugal in İZMİR to respond to the needs of Portuguese citizens living in İzmir and the Aegean Region, to promote Portugal in our region and to contribute to the collaboration between the two countries. Considering Turkey’s gradually increasing strategical importance for the EU, both in terms of energy and regional factors, I am convinced that Portugal supports Turkey’s negotiation process with the EU, and that Turkey’s membership to the EU will reinforce the Mediterranean dimension of the union.

Portuguese Cinema Days
Portuguese films that have recently been deemed worthy of many awards at various film festivals were featured during the “Portuguese Cinema Days” event which was jointly organized by Yaşar University and Portuguese Honorary Consulate in İzmir. A seminar and interviews on Portuguese culture, literature, and in particular on its film industry were central to the event.
